Position Description
Title: Associate Professor/Professor of Medicine (Tenure Pathway)
Location: Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Medicine
Date Available: Immediately
Responsibilities: The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine invites applications for a tenure track Associate/Full Professor with an extramurally funded, independent, primarily wet bench-based research program in the area of pulmonary biology. Research areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, airway biology, asthma, sepsis and acute lung injury, lung immunity, pulmonary vascular biology, stem cell biology, or lung cancer.
The successful candidate will have a visionary research program that synergizes with existing research programs at the Larner College of Medicine. The faculty member will join a vibrant research community including basic and clinician scientists within the Larner College of Medicine, have opportunities to collaborate with individuals across the University of Vermont campus, and contribute to the research education of graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.
The faculty member’s research program will be located in newly-constructed state-of-the-art research space within the Larner College of Medicine. Several core facilities are available at the University of Vermont (e.g., microscopy, flow cytometry & cell sorting, genomics/transcriptomics, proteomics, biostatistics, data science, small animal vivarium, and a BSL3 facility) to complement the faculty member’s independent research program. Rank will be commensurate with experience (Associate Professor and above); the most competitive applicants will be those with an established independent research program.
The University of Vermont offers a generous seed package. Faculty efforts are fully focused on research; teaching opportunities may be available within the Larner College of Medicine and the University of Vermont.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have an PhD, MD PhD, MD or equivalent doctoral degree. Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor/Professor (Tenure) will be commensurate with years of experience and accomplishments.
