Our mission: deliver tomorrow's cures today. City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center (COHCCC) is among 55 U.S. cancer centers with a National Cancer Institute (NCI) designation, highlighting our excellence in research, clinical care, education, and community-focused activities.

The Cancer Center Administrator is a crucial member of the senior administrative leadership team at the City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center, which holds a prestigious National Cancer Institute (NCI) designation. Responsibilities include managing financial planning, contracts, grants, research operations, information technology, facilities, and human resources. The role involves leading special projects, providing financial leadership for the cancer center's grant activities, contributing to strategic planning, and managing sponsored research activities related to the NCI-designated Cancer Center Support Grant. The Administrator is a key representative, subject matter expert on NCI guidelines, and plays a critical role in advancing the overall strategic mission of COHCCC.

As a successful candidate, you will:
  • Strategic Grant Management: Direct all aspects of the P30 Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG), overseeing the competing and non-competing renewals, supplement submissions, and pilot projects. Manage document preparation, data queries, grant budget preparation, and coordination with senior leadership, marketing, information technology, and finance.
  • Pre and Post Award Activities: Provide oversight for all pre and post award activities, including proposal submissions, progress reports, re-budgeting, and sub-awards. Ensure accurate information for supplements, manage regulatory review processes, and offer guidance to faculty on contract and grant proposal preparation processes.
  • Financial Oversight: Serve as a Level 3 approver for Cancer Center and institutional match chart strings. Oversee budget development, financial reporting, and staff work related to budgeting, financial reporting, and pre & post award administration.
  • Administrative Tasks: Manage administrative tasks associated with the Cancer Center Executive Committee (CCEC) and the Cancer Center Leadership Council (CCLC). Oversee planning and organization of team meetings, program meetings, and retreats. Negotiate vendor contracts and manage staff coordinating on and off-site activities.
  • Data Compilation and Compliance: Partner with research analytics and data management on the compilation of data, statistics, and information for various initiatives. Ensure proposal compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements, interface with institutional sponsored research administration, and recommend organizational procedures.

Your qualifications should include:
  • Education: Undergraduate degree in communications, business, administration, or related field.

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of pre- and post-award grants management in an academic medical center, preferably at a cancer center.
