ROLE SUMMARY
The mission of our Clinical Immunology and High-throughput Operations (CIHO) Team is to develop, validate and maintain various immunoassays to support both pre-clinical and clinical vaccine studies. As a member of this team, in this laboratory-based position, you will manage assay support functions within our Robotics and Automation Team. Your responsibilities include leading a team focused on laboratory automation process development using various liquid handler platforms (Agilent, Hamilton, Tecan). You will also evaluate and implement new technologies, including but not limited to liquid handling and assay miniaturization.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
This position may require occasional weekend and evening work to meet critical business timelines.
This position may require occasional travel to scientific meetings, between Pfizer sites and other business-related travel.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $131,200.00 to $218,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all phases of laboratory automation process development efforts from conception through implementation and validation, in support of VRD's vaccine programs.
- In conjunction with assay support and equipment maintenance functions within the Robotics and Automation group, ensure that the proper resources, both human and equipment, are in place to support the various programs.
- Leverage broad technical knowledge to evaluate new technologies, shares expertise throughout VRD, and determine the best course of action.
- Maintain oversight of other required activities, including but not limited to robotic method wet run testing, instrument and method qualification.
- Regularly communicates with both CIHO leadership and assay groups in order to assess short- and long-term needs for supporting clinical testing, both the preparation of assay ready plates and execution of the assays.
- Prioritizes the scheduling of work according to the requirements set forth by CIHO leadership.
- Ensure that all work is performed safely; and regulated tasks/activities are performed in compliance with cGXP and Pfizer/Regulatory agency requirements.
- Manage a team of approximately 7 direct reports, including coaching, development and performance management.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- BEng/BS with a minimum of 10 years of related industry experience, OR
- MEng/MS with a minimum of 8 years of related industry experience, OR
- PhD in a scientific discipline with a minimum of 6-8 years of industry experience.
- Experience in a high throughput setting, supporting laboratory automation process development.
- Extensive hands-on experience programming and troubleshooting robotic liquid handlers (Agilent, Hamilton, Tecan) and other laboratory automation equipment (robotic arm, plate reader/sealer/washer, automated incubator).
- Experience with programming languages, such as Python, R and/or JavaScript.
- Experience managing a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience performing basic analyses of laboratory data and interpreting the results.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in a regulated environment (eg, cGxP) performing instrument qualification (IQ/OQ) and method validation
- Experience with immunoassays and vaccine clinical testing.
- Experience with microfluidics and/or other emerging low volume liquid handling technologies.
- Experience with the use of liquid handler scheduling software.
- Experience with the use of a laboratory information management system (LIMS).
