Physician-Scientists - Pediatric Genetics & Genomics

The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics invites physician-scientists to apply for tenured or tenure-track faculty positions. We especially welcome candidates with a focus on genetics, genomics, immunology, or neuroscience. We also welcome candidates with a focus linking fundamental discovery in mammalian developmental biology of relevance to Pediatric diseases. Appointees will join a collegial department with a history of important contributions to basic, translational, and clinical research. Additional responsibilities will include teaching students (undergraduate, graduate, medical) and/or house staff and fellows, and clinical service commensurate with the individual’s qualifications and interests. Leadership opportunities are available for highly experienced applicants. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

Appointees will join a vibrant center of scientific discovery and innovation, and opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration are abundant, both within and outside the Biological Sciences Division. The Biological Sciences Division, other academic units of the University of Chicago, and UChicago Medicine, are all contained within one compact campus in Chicago’s Hyde Park. Appointees will have access to outstanding colleagues and graduate students affiliated with numerous degree-granting programs within and outside the Biological Sciences Division and to state-of-the-art core facilities. The potential for interactions with our affiliates, the Argonne National Laboratory and the Marine Biological Laboratory will be available. The primary appointments will be in the Department of Pediatrics although we anticipate that the appointees will develop close interactions with other departments, divisions, and institutes at the University of Chicago.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must 1) have a medical or medical and doctoral degree (MD or MD/PhD) and 2) be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics.

To be considered, those interested must apply through the University of Chicago’s Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: http://apply.interfolio.com/136807. Applicants must upload a CV including bibliography, contact information for 3 references, a research statement that includes a summary of past research accomplishments and future research plans, and a teaching statement. Review of complete applications will continue until the positions are filled.
