Washington State University’s Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, Department of Translational Medicine and Physiology is inviting applications for a Scientific Assistant.
This position supports laboratory research using a variety of genetic, genomic, proteomic, reproductive, pharmacologic, cell biology, and neurobiology approaches in use in the Sun lab and the Roberts lab. Specifically, these approaches are used to study of the role of neural G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) in the regulation of reproduction and immune homeostasis in C. elegans and other systems.
The Scientific Assistant (SA) is expected to perform complex lab research including identification and defining research problems and designing research approaches to these problems. The Scientific Assistant will collect, analyze and interpret research data while ensuring quality control. The Scientific Assistant will also write reports and journal publications. The SA will manage and maintain daily laboratory operations, conducting laboratory maintenance and care of scientific instrumentation to ensure a safe working environment.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate related scientific discipline and three (3) years of progressively responsible related professional research experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. A Master’s degree in an appropriate related scientific discipline may be substituted for up to one year of the required work experience.
Additional Requirements:
- Experience with text and data processing software.
- Experience with collecting and recording data.
Preferred Qualifications: Research experience in reproduction and/or neuroimmunology and/or working with C. elegans preferred.
Salary Range $45, 010.20 - $64,770.72
