Job Details
The Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine (CABM) at Rutgers University seeks candidates for two full-time, Tenure-Track or Tenured faculty positions (Open Rank) with expertise in Microbiome science. Founded in 1985, CABM has an outstanding track record in fundamental biomedical research and includes faculty within Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) and Rutgers–New Brunswick. Our faculty members drive federally funded research programs in broad areas of biomedical science.
We seek individuals with research interests in Microbiome Sciences who complement and/or expand existing strengths and will have a tenure home in one of several basic science or clinical departments in the Robert Wood Johnson (RWJ) Medical School. Successful candidates will be expected to develop strong, externally funded research programs on microbiome studies related to human health, development, and disease. Applicants with translational research interests pertaining to metabolic and immunological disorders, cancer, or psychiatric, neurologic, or infectious disease, or microbiome-derived drug discovery, systems biology and/or network modeling, are encouraged to apply. The successful candidates also will be expected to support the educational goals of Rutgers University through teaching and service.
Qualified candidates must have PhD, MD, or equivalent graduate degree. We seek specialists in Microbiology, Immunology, Experimental Pathology, Computational, Evolutionary, or Molecular Biology, or in a Clinical discipline with at least 3 years postdoctoral research experience related to the microbiome. Candidates should have a record of substantial research, potential for significant contributions as an independent investigator, and commitment to teaching. Candidates with a successful track record of obtaining external funding are preferred. Successful candidates will be provided appropriate wet and/or dry lab space, full access to graduate training programs, and research resources. Salary/rank commensurate with experience; excellent benefits and competitive startup package are offered. Research programs using interdisciplinary and translational approaches developing interactions with other RBHS institutes and RWJ clinical departments are encouraged.
