Postdoctoral position in experimental condensed matter physics and nanoscale materials science
Applications are being accepted for a postdoctoral research position in experimental condensed matter physics and nanoscale materials science at the Laboratory for Physical Sciences at the University of Maryland. Current research focuses on using ion traps to probe the chemical, mechanical and thermodynamic properties of levitated nanoscale materials, including platelets of 2D materials. Desirable skills for this research include experience with clean room processing, light scattering and optical measurements, preparation and measurement of liquid suspensions of nanoparticles, materials analysis, high vacuum apparatus, and resonance measurement techniques. Skill with COMSOL and LabVIEW are also desirable.
Interested candidates are invited to seek more information or to submit an application addressed to Bruce Kane at bekane@umd.edu. Applications should include a cover letter highlighting your qualifications, a CV, and the email contact details of two references. The University of Maryland is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity employer and particularly welcomes applications from women and members of minority groups.
