Description
The Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology at Stony Brook University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor. Candidates doing innovative work in biochemistry and structural biology are encouraged to apply. We particularly welcome applications from candidates exploring the Biochemical and Structural mechanisms of aging and/or infectious diseases.
With faculty in both the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Medicine, the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology is an active, collaborative community of scholars with broad research interests dedicated to both scientific discovery and fostering inclusive education at undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate levels. Beyond the Department there are opportunities for collaboration with other research programs including the Stony Brook Center for Healthy Aging, Infectious Disease, the Stony Brook Cancer Center, the Laufer Center for Physical and Quantitative Biology, and the Institute for Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery. In addition, the University maintains professionally staffed core facilities to support research including proteomics, next generation sequencing and microscopy.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
All candidates must have a Ph.D., and/or M.D. as well as at least two years of postdoctoral or experience in biochemistry, structural biology, or a closely related field.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
We particularly welcome applications from candidates exploring the Biochemical and Structural aspects of aging and/or infectious disease. Candidates must have demonstrated excellence in innovative research and have a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Tenure Track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. To qualify for tenure, the candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Medicine (School of Medicine's Criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure).
