The RNA Initiative at Brown University announces the opening of a tenured/tenure-track faculty position with a start date of July 1, 2024.
RNA is at the center of all cellular function, it can carry genetic information and often acts as a regulatory molecule affecting global aspects of cells and organisms. Recent discoveries have also identified RNA as a key therapeutic and diagnostic tool. Understanding the multiple levels at which RNA globally impacts Biology requires a combination of fundamental and applied research. A major goal of the RNA Initiative at Brown is to bridge the gap between basic and translational research in the field of RNA Biology.
Research using humans and/or model systems will be considered, and preference will be given to those applying multi-pronged approaches to reveal mechanistic insights of RNA function. Preferred approaches will involve the integration of molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, cell biology and biophysics, potentially complemented by -omics and computational analysis. Laboratory space, research facilities, and start-up will be provided, including access to state-of-the-art instrumentation and core facilities throughout the Brown campus.
Qualifications
Qualifications include a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree with relevant postdoctoral research training and a strong record of excellent research publications. The applicant will be expected to pursue an independent and externally-funded research program. The applicant should demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate and graduate education, and be an active participant in pre-doctoral training in the Division of Biology and Medicine.
Application Instructions
Candidates should submit a curriculum vitae with a complete bibliography, a 3-5 page description of research plans, a 1-page teaching statement, a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) statement, and representative publications to Interfolio. A minimum of three confidential reference letters should be submitted separately to the same website (instructions for requesting confidential letters are provided on the website). Review of applications will commence on a rolling basis on October 1, 2023, and will continue until the position is filled.
