Department Information: The Department of biology (https://www.csub.edu/biology) has a strong commitment to experiential learning through teaching and research, with numerous facilities and shared resources available in the department and across campus (See https://www.csub.edu/nsme/nsme-research and https://www.csub.edu/biology/department/facilities/index.html for resources available in the school and department, respectively). We currently have twelve tenure-track faculty and over 600 active biology major students. The department is strongly involved in general education and service courses for related majors.
Position Description: We invite applicants for a tenure track position in Biology at the level of Assistant Professor. We are looking for an animal physiologist with special consideration given to those with teaching and research experience at the organismal level. Our curriculum broadly covers biology and candidates will teach courses that may include topics in support of general education and undergraduate and graduate-level courses in biology. Specific teaching assignments will be based on department needs and the successful candidate's area of expertise. A successful candidate must be capable of developing externally funded research that includes both undergraduate and graduate students (M.S. Biology).
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Biology or related field
Experience in teaching courses in related areas of expertise.
Evidence of potential to conduct independent research and mentor research students in area of expertise.
Commitment to a quality undergraduate liberal arts education and a biology program that emphasizes student research projects involving problem solving, data analysis, and writing.
Demonstrated commitment to teaching undergraduates from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds, including first-generation students.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students in research settings
Experience teaching labs and lectures.
Post-doctoral experience

Anticipated annual Salary range: $78,000 – $85,000

Out of State Employment: Per CSU-wide policy, all faculty who will begin initial employment (or return from a 12-month break in service) on or after January 1, 2022 are required to perform their work from within the State of California. Faculty assignments include in-person duties that must be performed in-person at the assigned location.
