Junior Research Group Leader (m/f/d) – Electrophysiology of human memory: invasive brain recordings and stimulation – Institute of Cognitive Neurology and Dementia Research

The Otto von Guericke University announces a job openings for a term of 5 years for independent: Junior Research Group Leader (m/f/d) (100 %, TV-L 14) – Electrophysiology of human memory: invasive brain recordings and stimulation, starting from November 1, 2023.

The successful candidate (m/f/d) will establish and lead an independent junior research group at the medical faculty of the Otto-von-Guericke University, Magdeburg. Relevant experience in the field of electrophysiology of memory processes in humans is required. The methodolo­gical spectrum is expected to include intracranial recordings, EEG, MEG, neuronal oscillations, machine learning and brain stimulation.

This Junior Research Group will be established at the Institute of Cognitive Neurology and Dementia Research (IKND), Magdeburg. It is expected that the new research group will work closely with the CRC1436 also during the second funding phase of the CRC1436. For more information, please visit www.sfb1436.de.

The appointees will receive an attractive package that, in addition to the group leader position, also covers one PhD student, one PostDoc position, one student assistant, and appropriate consumables. Additionally, they benefit from excellent working conditions in Magdeburg as one of Germany's leading centers for Neurobiology and Brain Science: The IKND has access to State-of-the-art techniques (7Tesla, 7Tesla Connectome, MEG, EEG, brain stimulation). The invasive and non-invasive pre-surgical epilepsy assessment is performed at the Department of Neurology and Department of Neurosurgery and the candidate will closely collaborate with both departments.

Qualification requirements include a PhD or MD / Ph.D. degree, appropriate postdoctoral training (no more than 6 years after Ph.D. – parental leave is taken into account), documented expertise in the announced topics, and clearly formulated plans for an independent and competitive research.

Compensation: The salary group E14 according to “Tarifvertrag für den Öffentlichen Dienst de Länder” awaits you.
