The Department of Microbiology & Cell Biology at Montana State University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty position. We are seeking an individual with a research program focused on BSL3 pathogens that pose a risk to human and/or animal health while investigating diverse areas including microbial pathogenesis, host responses to infectious agents, microbe-host interactions, and microbial evolution. Candidate’s research should employ interdisciplinary approaches, including biochemical, cellular, immunological, bioengineering, molecular biology, and/or novel methodologies with an emphasis on BSL-3 level pathogens. Individuals pursuing new or ‘outside the box’ approaches, and those focused on interdisciplinary, collaborative research, are strongly encouraged to apply, as are those from groups that are typically under-represented in science. Successful applicants will integrate their research programs with undergraduate and graduate student instruction and participate in professional service activities. We are particularly interested in individuals whose work complements and strengthens the research interests of MSU faculty. Ph.D. M.D., or D.V.M. in microbiology or a related discipline and post-doctoral experience consistent with teaching/research expectations in infectious diseases is required.
