The Faculty of Biology and Medicine (FBM) and the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) are inviting applications for a position of:

Associate or Deputy Physician, with a title of Associate Professor in the field of physical exercise

within the Service of Angiology of the CHUV with academic activities at UNIL’s Institute of Sport Sciences (ISSUL)

Starting date: 01.02.2024 or to be agreed

The angiology service of the CHUV is part of the Heart and Vascular Department (DCV). It is highly specialised in the management of arterial, venous, lymphatic and microcirculatory vascular diseases as well as in the interventional management of venous diseases and malformations. In addition to clinical and teaching activities, the angiology service plays a leading role in clinical, fundamental and translational research in the field of atherosclerosis, exercise and thromboembolic disease. The service is also a recognised centre of expertise in the management of rare vascular diseases.

The Institute of Sport Sciences (ISSUL) is UNIL’s main centre for teaching and research in the interdisciplinary field of sport sciences. It brings together experts in humanities and social sciences (history, psychology, management, sociology) and in life sciences (physiology, biomechanics, medicine, molecular biology) within the Olympic capital.

Main missions:

  • Clinical (40%): participate in the supervision and clinical management of patients with vascular diseases and implement rehabilitation programs Promote the image of the angiology service and ISSUL inside and outside the institution, develop collaborations with other services and institutions. Academic activities:
  • Research (40%): develop research missions (fundamental and translational) in the field of exercise, according to the strategic axes of the angiology service, while ensuring an independent and competitive research program in collaboration and consultation with this department, the Institute of Sport Sciences of the University of Lausanne (ISSUL) and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Research on Sport (CIRS) Teaching (20%): carry out pre-graduate, post-graduate and continuing education missions, according to the needs of the ISSUL-FBM.

Desired profile:

  • Federal degree in medicine (or Mebeko equivalent required), medical doctorate (MD or MD-PhD) Specialization in angiology (ISFM or Mebeko equivalent required) Extensive clinical experience in vascular medicine Proven expertise in exercise as a therapeutic tool Academic experience at professorial level with proven practice in pre- and postgraduate teaching Ability to set up and develop basic and clinical research programs that can be supported by expert external funding Good knowledge of French (LM or minimum B2, C1 ideal) or ability to acquire it quickly.
