We are seeking a talented individual to join the lab of Professor David Sinclair at Harvard Medical School. This role directly supports the PI, postdoctoral fellows, and students in developing and supporting lab projects including, as a main pursuit, submitting grant proposals to advance the laboratory’s pursuit of external funding for research projects. Proposals are focused on the study of aging and the prevention or reversal of age-associated dysfunction. The individual will support lab members through all phases of the research proposal development process, including initial project inception, research proposal development, submission, and the dissemination and reporting of findings to funding agencies. This person will also aid in organizing, writing, and editing all lab publications. This position is ideal for a recent graduate transitioning to project management.

This is a hybrid position (in-person at HMS and remote).

  • Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct literature and topical research pertinent to projects and share the information
  • Stay informed about topics of interest and issues related to research projects
  • Help identify funding sources to support existing and planned research activities
  • Support Professor Sinclair in his fundraising efforts
  • Develop and write diverse grant proposals to state, federal, and private institutions
  • Investigate published evidence supporting project aims, draft sections of grants, assist in developing the budget, and ensuring that components, such as letters of support and bio-sketches, are completed and submitted in a timely fashion
  • Liaise with finance and research operation personnel
  • Assist in building diverse and successful teams of researchers
  • Monitor and document progress towards goals, prepare updates and reports for ongoing projects
  • Assist in writing research and review articles for publication and preparation of presentations and posters for meetings
  • Assist with patent applications
  • Establish and coordinate collaborations
  • Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in life sciences, preferably molecular and cell biology (experienced Masters considered)
  • Excellent research, presentation, organizational, interpersonal, and networking skills
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work with short or unexpected deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Meticulous writing, grammar, and spelling skills are a must
  • Experience writing scientific grant applications and articles as well as grant administration and/or project coordination preferred
  • Able to work with and organize high-performance teams
  • Familiarity with software including MS Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator and AI
  • Ability to develop and implement systems to improve collaboration and communication
  • A writing sample will be required.
