Institution Profile

Sanya Research Institute of Nanjing Agricultural University (hereinafter referred to as "Sanya Research Institute") is a new type of institution established by Nanjing Agricultural University in Sanya City, Hainan Province. With a focus on the positioning of the Hainan International Education Innovation Island and the demands of the China's Southern Breeding Silicon Valley construction, the Sanya Research Institute collaborates with local authorities to jointly establish scientific research bases, share educational and research resources, and promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements.

The Sanya Research Institute engages in comprehensive cooperation with Hainan Province, aiming to build a nationally recognized agricultural science and education base that is rooted in Sanya, serves Hainan, and faces the world. This base integrates teaching, research, and technology commercialization, catering to the needs of cultivating high-level talents and fostering scientific innovation in Hainan Province. It contributes to accelerating the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port and the construction of the Hainan International Education Innovation Island.

Talent team 

The Sanya Research Institute has established 18 research teams that are currently based in the Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City. These teams consist of 3 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 9 national-level outstanding youth scholars and distinguished professors, and 117 visiting scientists. The main research directions are: crop genetics and breeding; Crop gene editing; Crop phenomics; Soil and ecology; Organic solid waste; Information agriculture; Land resource management and beautiful countryside construction; Horticultural germplasm resources innovation; Food processing and testing; Animal disease prevention and control; Animal genetics and breeding.

Talent Training

With the support of the disciplinary and talent resources of Nanjing Agricultural University, the Sanya Research Institute has recruited a total of 210 graduate students under the Hainan Special Program. Among them, there are 60 doctoral students and 150 master's students.

Research Platform  

The Sanya Research Institute has established a modern agriculture and green production laboratory, which includes six major platforms: molecular breeding of crops, crop gene editing, physiological ecology and germplasm innovation of horticultural crops, green control of crop pests and diseases, green production and food safety of animals, and resource utilization of agricultural waste and the development of new fertilizers. The laboratory covers an area of 6,500 square meters and will be equipped with more than 1,100 sets of instruments and equipment, including laser confocal microscopes and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analyzers. Additionally, the supporting construction of the Batou Comprehensive Experimental Base, covering an area of 287 mu, enables the comprehensive fulfillment of teaching and research needs in various agricultural-related disciplines.

1.Recruitment Fields and Directions:

Based on the postdoctoral research mobile station of Nanjing Agricultural University, the Sanya Research Institute plans to recruit 10 postdoctoral fellows in 2023. The recruitment fields and directions include:

Crop genetics and breeding; Crop gene editing; Information agriculture; Crop physiology and ecology; Detection and comprehensive control of major crop pest and disease resistance; Diagnosis, early warning, and risk prevention of biological disasters; Breeding of new varieties of specialty horticultural crops; Utilization of organic solid waste;Agricultural resources and environment; Crop phenomics;Animal disease prevention and control; Animal genetics and breeding; Agricultural product processing; Land resource management and rural development,etc.

2.Job requirements

(1) A doctor's degree from a high-level university at home and abroad, with good potential for scientific research and development;

(2) the publication of achievements with significant influence in the relevant field in the past five years;

(3) working in the Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City for at least 8 months per year.

3. Remuneration and Benefits:

(1) The basic annual salary is not less than RMB250,000 yuan , and the comprehensive annual salary is more than RMB300,000 yuan ;

(2) Assist in applying for high-level talent subsidies in Sanya Talent Apartment and Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City (RMB800,000 to 4 million yuan);

(3) Provide office and laboratory space;

(4) Outstanding individuals who excel in their work will be recommended for employment as faculty members at Nanjing Agricultural University;
