The Department of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Minnesota (UMN) is inviting applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2024. The department is located within the College of Pharmacy (CoP), ranked 3rd in the Nation as a Top Pharmacy School, and is within one of the largest academic health centers in the U.S., with nationally recognized programs in medicine, pharmacology, biochemistry, nursing, dentistry, and public health. Applicants whose research interests focus on chemical biology, large and small molecule chemical probe and drug design and development, proteomics analyses, or chemically enabled genomics are especially encouraged to apply. In addition, applicants are expected to support the Department’s commitment to a diverse, equitable and inclusive learning and work environment. Numerous supporting research core resources and laboratories associated with the CoP, the UMN Academic Health Center, the College of Science and Engineering, and the Masonic Cancer Center are available to support the laboratory of the successful candidate.
With over 1,400 faculty in basic and applied biomedical disciplines, the UMN provides a rich environment for research and collaboration. To foster the laboratory of the successful candidate, the university supports numerous interdisciplinary programs, such as the Masonic Cancer Center, the Institute for Translational Neuroscience, the Institute for Therapeutics Discovery and Development, the Brain Sciences Center, the Blood Brain Barriers Research Center, the N. Bud Grossman Center for Memory Research and Care, the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research and Imaging, the Epigenetics Consortium, the Center for Translational Medicine, and the Minnesota Partnership for Biotechnology.
Required qualifications include: an earned doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in medicinal chemistry, chemical biology, chemistry or related discipline. Candidates with postdoctoral research experience are preferred. Applicants are expected to have demonstrated research productivity through peer-reviewed publications and be committed to a diverse environment.
