RIKEN Center for Brain Science (CBS) is seeking an outstanding scientist for a Unit Leader position in the field of Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI). As the head of Support Unit for fMRI, the successful candidate will be in charge of the Unit and maintain, manage and operate human MRI system (3T system and 7T system) to provide high-quality technical support to engineers and researchers both within and outside RIKEN. S/he is also expected to develop and implement improvements to MRI methods.

The successful candidate will start in a fixed-term position (equivalent to US assistant professor, 9 years at maximum depending on evaluation) but is also eligible to apply for any open positions of indefinite-term employment, which are subject to the mandatory retirement age of 60 followed by reemployment program until age of 65.

Applicants should submit the electronic files of a cover letter with a brief summary of their research program and plan, curriculum vitae, list of research achievements and publications, list of acquired research funding, research achievements and technical development and support to date, future plans for technical development and support, and reprints of five major publications maximum, through the online application form. Three recommendation letters must be directly submitted from the referees. Ask prospective referees for their support and provide the necessary information (name, e-mail address, and relationship with the applicant) about each referee in the application form. A recommendation request will be sent automatically to the referees. Please ask them to follow the instructions in the email and upload a letter before the application deadline. Please make your request well in advance of the deadline (at least three weeks in advance) by using the application form. One of the three referees should be the current supervisor, if available. The letters should be addressed to Dr. Makoto Gonokami, President of RIKEN. All files and recommendation letters should be written in English.
