How You Will Achieve It
- Regularly contribute and influence at the project team level.
- Engage and work with external collaborations and Contract Research Organizations (CROs).
- Apply technical skills to complete assigned work within own work group/project team.
- Develop, optimize, and scale-up protein purification processes for selected targets. Characterize purified proteins using variety of analytical techniques.
- Assist in developing new assays and adapt existing assays to new materials.
- Discuss analytical issues with team members to help advance objectives.
- Present problems and propose solutions in discussion with group members. Offer insights based on experience to group members to help solve problems.
- Collaborate with colleagues towards introduction of new technologies to improve and accelerate downstream process development and improve process efficiency.
- Maintain an organized laboratory space, maintain a rotating stock of supplies.
- Plan and prioritize related purification activities.
- Analyze, interpret, and provide conclusions and present experimental data on internal meetings.
- Present periodic status updates to the group. Prepare technical reports, as needed.
- Communicate daily work in an organized lab notebook.
- Work closely with a team and communicate effectively to meet schedules and deadlines.
- Supervise colleagues in design and execution of experiments as needed.
- Conduct research that leads to publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentation of data at internal and external meetings.
Qualifications
Must-Have
- Master's Degree with 7+ years of industry experience or PhD (preferred)
- Extensive hands-on experience in protein purification techniques: chromatography, membrane filtration, centrifugation. Knowledge of biophysical characterization of biological molecules and analytical techniques. Familiarity with laboratory scale purifications chromatography systems (AKTA) and analytical instrumentation (HPLC, spectrophotometry, etc.). Knowledge of basic principles of process development, process scale up, validation, technical transfer.
- Proficiency in Microsoft systems such asOffice suite, Outlook, Etc.
- Knowledge and ability to independently design, plan, and execute protein purification activities.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Lead and train junior scientists as needed.
- Ability to perform complex data analysis.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.

- Basic knowledge of DOE principals
- HTS instrumentation for protein purification process development
- Protein structure-functional analysis
