What You Will Achieve

As an Associate Scientist, you will be at the center of our operations and you'll find that everything we do, every day, is in line with an unwavering commitment to quality. You will have the important role to participate and operate robotic units in a regulated Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) setting to support Pfizer's vaccine programs according to Standard Operating Procedures. You will support downstream analyst by doing sample preparation and starting the lifecycle of a sample. You will also spearhead new and innovative projects for process improvement and upkeep of the laboratory. In addition, you will also support throughput activities and provide testing support for clinical and non-clinical research programs.

Your strong foundation in general scientific practice , its principles and concepts will help in meeting critical deadlines. You will be relied on as a technical contributor to assess the assigned tasks and make decisions that involve direct application of your knowledge.

How You Will Achieve It
  • Exercise and build basic team effectiveness skills {e.g., commitment, feedback, consensus management} within the immediate work group.
  • Perform job responsibilities in compliance with current Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and all other regulatory agency requirements.
  • Assist in updating and writing documents associated with Luminex Based Immunoassays, includin g Standard Operating Procedure, and status reports.
  • Assist in ordering supplies from internal inventory and prepare reagents/supplies necessary for daily throughput.
  • Operate Hamilton STAR/Vantage Automated Liquid Handler to support vaccine clinical development in a high throughput setting.
  • Help assist in keeping a detailed inventory of freezer reagents such as controls, proficiency panels, clinical samples, reference standards etc.
  • Present progress on process development and sample analysis to colleagues and senior management.
  • Collect and analyze data on a per project basis to support troubleshooting, qualification, and other lab projects.
  • Execute sample testing for toxicology and clinical trials.
  • Stay current on all departmental and corporate training.


Qualifications

Must-Have
  • Bachelor's Degree ina relevant field of science ( biomedical engineering, biology, immunology, microbiolo gy, etc. ) with 0-2 years of experience
  • Laboratory experience in a relevant field of science
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to collaborate and work in team environment.
  • Excellent Computer skills including word processing, Excel, PowerPoint and relevant scientific software.
  • Demonstrated experience in design and innovation in process improvement (University experience is acceptable)

Nice-to-Have
  • Experience in coding languages ( i.e. Python, R, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, MATLAB)
  • Understanding of 3D printing and use of CAD software
  • Pharmaceutical experience
  • Knowledge of Luminex technology


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is primarily performed at the laboratory bench or at an office desk using a computer. The job involves lifting loads, generally not more than 20 pounds.
