Job Details

The Immunology department at MD Anderson Cancer Center seeks to determine the fundamental cellular and molecular mechanisms of a wide range of processes by which the body recognizes and eliminates pathogens and use these findings to unleash the patient's own immune system against previously treatment-resistant cancers. Treating the immune system rather than the cancer itself, the therapeutics developed are applicable to many cancers.

IMMUNOLOGY

KEY FUNCTIONS

Research
  • Performs routine data analysis and reporting.
  • Assists with the report of experimental results for presentation in scientific meetings and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Takes advantage of spatial analysis platforms including nanostring, Visium. mIF knowledge to analyze data.
  • Order supplies and perform spatial assay to generate data using different assays and respective software programs.
  • Processes and analyzes data for the publication of manuscripts. Knowledge of basic R is a plus.
  • Provide guidance to research technician staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Laboratory/maintenance Functions
  • Exercises considerable initiative in planning and executing the details of experiments and in evaluating and interpreting the results.
  • Manages and records inventories using excel, filepro and Tableau program.
  • Assist with the report of experimental results for presentation in scientific meetings and publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Conducts critical experimental record keeping in laboratory notebooks.

Record Keeping
  • Participate in all necessary routine duties necessary for the continuous smooth operation of the laboratory.
  • Utilization and maintenance of the majority of laboratory equipment.
  • Maintains and orders the inventory of lab supplies and general reagents to ensure efficient functioning as needed.


Education

Required: Bachelor's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.

Preferred: Master's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.

Experience

Required: Three years of experience in scientific or experimental research work. With preferred degree, one year of required experience.
