Summary

We are seeking a motivated and talented post-doctoral research associate to pursue studies on the effects of infection and inflammation on hematopoietic stem cells. The King lab is investigating how inflammation impacts quiescence and differentiation of hematopoiesis stem cells, with implications in clonal hematopoiesis and trained immunity (Cell Stem Cell 2021, Cell Stem Cell 2022). Delineating the effects of cytokine exposure on the epigenetic and transcriptional landscape of HSCs will have significant implications for outcomes from bone marrow transplantation, immunity, aging, and oncogenesis. Candidates should have a strong background in inflammation, immunity, aging, stem cell biology, and/or cancer biology. Experience in flow cytometry, molecular biology, tissue culture, use of murine models, and genomics preferred. Excellent communication skills are required.

The ideal candidate will be a responsible, self-directed scientist who will carry out projects as directed by the PI while functioning largely independently in pursuing and troubleshooting methods, maintaining collaborations, and analyzing data. The associate may take an active role in writing grants and manuscripts that result from the research work. Interested candidates will supervise and advise research assistants and graduate students in the lab and will have the opportunity to teach them basic methods, responsible conduct in research, time management and organizational skills, data analysis techniques, and oral and written communication skills. We seek an associate who will serve as a cohesive leader in the lab to promote an atmosphere of cooperation and productivity, scientific creativity, enthusiasm for discovery, and hard work.
