The Scientific Data and Products (SDP) group in NX builds and applies excellence in product and data management to continuously improve the impact and value of software and data to NIBR. We deliver intuitive, intentional, and integrated software solutions that create a frictionless user experience.

As an Associate Director Scientific Product Manager, you lead and manage one or multiple complex, globally-deployed, high-impact scientific software products enabling registration, maintenance and tracking of biologics scientific entities and information (examples: samples, containers, experiments, assays and their lineage and properties) that deliver significant impact to NIBR drug discover

Major Accountabilities (may include but not limited to):

Working in collaboration with other Product teams within your product line and across all product lines, you are a key contributor to an intentional, integrated product architecture. Use your in-depth understanding of Product Management and our strategic context to evaluate or invent new solutions across business domains.

Lead one or several medium to large matrixed, cross-functional product teams consisting of software, data and infrastructure engineers, business analysts, designers, and user supporters and trainers.
•Provide strategic context and focus to the team
•Together with the team, you adapt and fine-tune the roles and responsibilities to the specific needs of the team and the product situation
•Act as facilitator to prioritization, and you cultivate good team-based decision-making practice
•Facilitate cross-functional collaborations to address key strategic opportunities.

You shape your product teams’ culture and processes for success. You exemplify excellence in product management, combining your knowledge of science and drug discovery to create or license software that advances and supports NIBR science. You engage with all key stakeholders of your products to co-Head of Products
create product visions and roadmaps and define how we measure success and value delivery for your products.

You assume full accountability for all aspects of delivery of your products, including consistent, stable product operations, meeting all security, stability, usability, performance and sustainability requirements, and maintaining an optimal balance between investment and value delivery.
•Plan and manage product resources, product delivery, and product life cycle.
•Manage risks and risk mitigation
•Actively and transparently manage, and communicate to, all key stakeholders
•Provide up-to-date roadmaps, plans, progress, status reports on risks and challenges, and value metrics
•Ensure adherence to Novartis global Information Security and Quality standards and policies for all products/services.
•If applicable, you ensure Regulatory Compliance (e.g. GLP & GCP) standards and policies for GxP products/services.

>This opportunity is located at the Novartis Cambridge (MA) site and will not have the ability to be located remotely. Relocation assistance may be available.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $158,400 and $237,600 per year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Minimum Requirements

What will you bring to the role
Must have product management experience as well as domain knowledge in a core drug discovery scientific discipline such as biology, chemistry, or computational sciences. Scientific Product Managers are highly collaborative, skilled at dealing with ambiguity, and use their strategic mindset to understand priorities of possible product activities and developments in a broader business context.
•Ability to effect change, manage conflict, and create consent through indirect influence
•Experience with Agile software development
•Quantitative skills and the ability to use data and metrics to make informed decision
•Outstanding communication skills
•Experience in a drug discovery or scientific research systems
Education and Qualification Requirements:
•At least 5 years of experience in product management in a complex matrix environment
•8+ years of experience in drug discovery or a core supporting scientific field.
•Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or a related scientific field. PhD preferred.
