Summary of Duties:

The laboratory of Dr. John Clarke in the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences invites applications for a temporary full-time, non-tenure-track, 12-month appointment as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. The Postdoctoral Research Associate contributes to the fulfillment of the university’s mission and vision through providing support to the Clarke Lab in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences by conducting research and collecting data related to the precision medicine and toxicology projects. Essential Duties:

Specific tasks may include but are not limited to:

  • Plan and execute studies with the PI, lab members, and collaborators.
  • Perform techniques such as cell culture, western blots, small molecule quantification, -omics data analysis (RNA-Seq, proteomics, etc), gavage, necropsy, and non-survival rodent surgeries.
  • Analyze and interpret data. Present results in lab meetings, departmental/college meetings, and scientific conferences.
  • Write, edit, and publish peer-reviewed articles.
  • Compete for awards and apply for mentored grants (if desired).
  • Assist with research grant applications.
  • Assist in training other lab members on appropriate rules, regulations, and protocols.

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. degree in toxicology, biomedical sciences, or a closely related field.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Strong research experience as demonstrated by first-author publication(s) in internationally recognized, peer-reviewed journals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical skills in cell culture, molecular biology, and animal handling.
  • Knowledge and experience in toxicology, with particular emphasis on liver toxicology.
  • Knowledge and experience working with cyanotoxins.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, work independently, and have strong scientific English language skills.

Annual Salary: $56,484.00 -$61,572.00; commensurate with qualifications and experience.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Overtime Eligibility: This position is eligible for overtime.
FTE: 100%
Permanent/Temporary: This is a temporary position expected to end one year after the employment start date. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
