Post doctoral position requiring PhD in the field of biology or immunology and with interest in innate immunity. Dr Mariana Castells laboratory is focused on the inhibitory mechanisms of IgE mast cells activation which application has led to human desensitization protocols for the safe re-introduction of drugs and foods in IgE-sensitized patients at risk for anaphylaxis. Thousands of patients around the world have been desensitized to antibiotics, chemotherapy drugs and monoclonals with a protocol developed from her in vitro IgE/mast cells desensitization model but the mechanisms of the inhibitory process have remained elusive. Desensitization uncouples signal transduction and FcεRI/IgE/antigen internalization, and silencing SHIP-1 impairs desensitization. The project includes human and mast cells cultures, IgE activation and desensitization and study of SHIP-1 activation and agonists, single cell RNA and CRISPER gene editing techniques.
