Summary

Dr. Ang Li is seeking a qualified candidate for a senior coordinator and project manager for cancer epidemiology and data science research within the section of Hematology/Oncology at BCM. The candidate will serve as the primary manager/administrator for the research team to assist with daily research organization, staff post-doc recruitment, manuscript editing, regulatory approval, budgeting, and pre-/post award grant activities and the occasional assistance in clinical research.

Candidates must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, dedicated to science and problem solving, with organizational skills and effective at working independently and leading projects, while also collaborating and assisting the team in its collective research goals.

Job Duties

  • Tracks research progress, assign staff tasks, assists with recruitment.
  • Edits/formats manuscript for journal submission, format abstracts for grant submission.
  • Assists with IRB submission and renewal, as well as DUA/MTA signing.
  • Assembles and compiles reports and information needed to complete and submit online annual progress reports, renewals, resubmissions, and new grants to the NIH and CPRIT.
  • Requests vendor numbers for suppliers, obtain Purchase Order numbers for the contract/subcontract, and review incoming contract/subcontract invoices for accuracy prior to payment.
  • Prepares and maintains other support documents as needed.
  • Schedules and organizes appointments, meetings, conferences, or other special events.
  • Coordinates the day-to-day activities of any technical support staff specifically engaged in the carrying out of research/clinical protocol, as appropriate to the position; may perform aspects of research protocol, as required, in accordance with specified program objectives.
  • Ensures the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of research and data collection activities.
  • Plans, implements, and maintains data collection and analysis systems in support of research protocol; may coordinate the collection and analysis of research data.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Four years of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • MS or MPH in Epidemiology or Healthcare Administration.
  • Understands clinical epidemiology and data science research.
  • Speak fluent English and write well in scientific jargons.
  • Familiar with manuscript writing and submission.
  • Possess database management skills with high proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, REDCap.
  • Able to independently problem-solve and navigate the bureaucracy within academic institutions.
