Are you an early career data scientist / analyst with strong bioinformatics affinity? This is an outstanding opportunity for a neurogeneticist / data scientist to work in the Global Parkinson’s Genetics Program (GP2). You will support data analysis and management for the Monogenic Data Analysis working group and have the opportunity to work in close collaboration with scientists within GP2 around the globe.
Role responsibilities
This role will focus on running and refining genomic analyses, data management, and data visualization workflows.
- Support in cloud-based and high-performance computing analyses as well as bioinformatic workflows
- Support in data sharing solutions for large genomics and clinical efforts in neurodegenerative disease research
- Management of the clinical and genomics data flow
Ideal candidates
- A master degree or BSc with 1-5 years of working experience in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, statistics, or a similar discipline
- Solid experience in working in a Unix-like and high-performance computing (HPC) environment. Cloud computing competency is a plus.
- Solid skills in R / Python / bash programming and version control / containerization
- Familiarity with developing and maintaining bioinformatic workflows (Snakemake, WDL or Nextflow)
- Ideally, experience with NGS data analyses
- A basic understanding of genomics / genetics is a plus
- Strong communication skills that will enable effective participation in an interdisciplinary team of data analysts and biologists
This position will include the opportunities for frequent travels to partner institutes, growing your data science analytic skills and publishing research in collaboration within GP2. The location for the work will be at the DZNE Tuebingen.
