The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO, invites applications for a non-tenure-track Teaching Assistant or Associate Professor position to begin January 3, 2024.

The primary responsibilities include the instruction of introductory courses for majors and non-majors, the development of on-line course materials, and a commitment to service of the teaching mission of the department.  There are also opportunities to create and teach general education physics and astronomy courses for non-majors. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of independent college-level teaching experience, including large-enrollment courses, using approaches that involve both active and collaborative learning and evidence of a commitment to inclusive teaching practices.  Minimum qualifications require a Ph.D. in Physics or Astronomy. Compensation will be commensurate with teaching experience. 

The term of this 9-month appointment is for one year with the possibility of annual renewal, and with the intent for a long-term position and promotion to higher rank.  Our Teaching Professors are full members of the faculty, with all privileges and rights afforded them by departmental bylaws. This position is compensated as a full-time, benefit-eligible member of the MU faculty.
