Summary

Research Associate will perform research work to support various laboratory projects under the general direction of the Principal Investigator. The project will primarily focus on the molecular cloning, recombinant protein expression and vaccine development for tropical diseases. The researcher also includes characterizing the molecules of interest for vaccine candidates, animal models and experiments for helminth infections, immunological mechanism for protective immunity.

Job Duties

  • Performs laboratory work in molecular biology that includes DNA preparation, PCR, molecular cloning techniques.
  • Performs laboratory work in recombinant protein expression in different platforms that includes E. coli, yeast, protein analysis such as SDS-PAGE.
  • Conducts immunological assays such as ELISA, Western blot.
  • Performs recombinant protein purification processes.
  • Works on animal experiments for helminth infection and vaccination, immunological assays.
  • Assists the unit director in analyzing and compiling data into presentations and interim reports.
  • Maintains lab equipment and environment, responsible for ordering supply and materials needed.
  • Works closely with QC/QA group to keep correct data entry, inventory maintaining, SOP, notebook recording and documentation.
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format.
  • Analyzes results of experiments and reports to principal investigators.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Basic Science or a related field. Experience in lieu of degree will not be accepted.
  • Three years of relevant experience typically as a Research Assistant, Research Technician or Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate.
