New Therapeutic Modalities (NTM) Intern

The internship within the New Therapeutic Modalities team is a laboratory-based position with tremendous learning potential in the areas of gene delivery and immunology. The intern will work on strategies to improve efficacy and tolerability of novel gene therapies. Under the guidance of Spark scientists, the intern will:

- Design and develop in vitro assays to evaluate the immunogenicity of novel vector formulations.

- Evaluate strategies to improve the efficacy of vector formulations.

- Design, plan, and execute experiments to evaluate scientific hypotheses.

- Perform cell culture, cell-based assays, and molecular biology assays.

- Present data at internal team meetings.

Education and Experience Requirements

Enrolled in a Bachelor’s program

• At least 2 years left of a combination of undergraduate and/or graduate coursework with summer availability (e.g., rising junior, or rising senior pursuing graduate school)
• Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university
• Majoring in a biology-related degree
• Minimum availability of 10 weeks (about 2 and a half months)
• Participation in student organizations and/or other leadership experience
