Description

The Ultrafast Laser Core facility (UFL), a member of the ASU Biosciences Core at Arizona State University (ASU) seeks applications for a Research Professional- Ultrafast Laser Facility Manager. We are particularly interested in candidates with experiences in guiding ultrafast laser spectroscopy research through technique selection and application, experiment design, data analysis, and method development, as well as facility development. The qualified candidate will manage the UFL facility, be responsible for overall operations and facility development under the direction of the Assistant Director of Biosciences Operations. They will lend professional support and expertise by participating in the design, operation, expansion and maintenance of research equipment and facilities, as well as training and supervising users in the use of the equipment. This full-time, non-tenure-track, benefits-eligible, fiscal year (TBA) position is for one year with subsequent renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance, the needs of the university, and availability of resources.

 

Essential Duties

  • Manage, operate, and perform maintenance for the time-resolved spectroscopic setups excited with femtosecond pulsed lasers (time-correlated single photon counting, broadband transient absorption, streak camera fluorescence)
  • Provide support for UFL technique selection and application, new method development, experimental design, and data interpretation
  • Facilitate and support faculty and student research projects by assisting in the application of the analytical techniques and data analysis
  • Collaborate with or provide technical support to faculty members in pursuing grants to acquire and enhance research instrumentation

 

Salary- $70,000-$100,000; DOE

 

The Initial Close date is Friday, April 21, 2023 and applications will be reviewed every Friday there after.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in operating ultrafast laser, designing and setting up the related optical components
  • Experience in time-resolved laser spectroscopic measurements
  • Evidence of willingness to learn new skills and pursue professional development
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Strong laboratory management skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field & 7 years direct experience

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • PhD in chemistry, physics, engineering, or material science, post-doctoral training
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with ultrafast laser spectroscopy-associated analytical techniques, such as time-correlated single photon counting, broadband transient absorption, streak camera fluorescence techniques
  • Experience with kinetics and dynamics research of bio-, chemical-, nano-, and solar-materials
  • Demonstrated record of scientific collaborations and publications
  • Demonstrated Strong verbal and written communication skills
