Position Summary

A bioinformatician position at the level of Research Associate is immediately available in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences, University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, MD.  We are looking for a talented and self-motivated Bioinformatics Scientist in developing data processing pipelines and omics data analysis especially spatial transcriptomics to support our research. This individual will apply computational techniques in analyzing large-scale genomics/epigenomic data, create data-driven models and data visualizations, and assist in grant applications.
 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements algorithms and computer software for omics-based data sets Implements data management and analysis solutions that aid in the storage, investigation, and dissemination of large data sets. Performs independent research projects, including design of research protocols and development of procedures for the collection, verification, and management of data. Performs complex systems analysis of data and writes interpretative reports. Trains other researchers on the everyday use of analysis software and research databases. Assists with grant preparation and reporting of methods, data, and results.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in computer science or related field highly preferred. Experience in the application of genomics data analysis, as well as the development of bioinformatics pipelines to deal with the analyses and interpretation of large omics data. Experience in spatial transcriptomics or single-cell omics data analysis. Analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills. Good understanding of computational biology, probabilistic models, and statistics. Ability to analyze and interpret large complex data sets, such as genome sequences, microarray gene expression studies Expertise in standard bioinformatics tools. Proficiency in scientific programming languages (e.g., Python, R, Perl, Java),

Salary   $ 80,000 to $110,000
