Basic or Translational Scientist in Radiation Oncology Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston

The Department of Radiation Oncology and the Cancer Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) announces an opportunity for a basic or translational scientist with research interest in radiation oncology. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated research interest in one of the following areas: modeling of novel radiation approaches to cancer, integrating radiation with cancer immunology and immunotherapy, development of novel/targeted therapies including radio-conjugates, and interrogating mechanisms of radiation resistance.

The candidate will be responsible for developing a research program as outlined above. The leadership of the Cancer Center and Cancer Research Institute, and Department of Radiation Oncology will provide mentorship and support to the candidate to accomplish these goals. Assistant professor candidates will have a track record of publications in high impact journals, mentored grants, and will show strong potential for independent funding.

Associate professor candidates will also have established independent funding. Candidates for this position must meet criteria for appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology at Harvard Medical School. The successful candidate must have demonstrated scholarly activities with achievements in basic or clinical research and possess potential for program development, and teaching and mentorship abilities.

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, the tertiary care hospital of Beth Israel Lahey Health, is a member of the Dana-Farber Harvard Cancer Center, an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center. Salary and benefits will be competitive with other institutions. Applicants should have a PhD, MD or MD/PhD degree. The candidate will be put forward for an Assistant or Associate Professor level appointment at Harvard Medical School.
