A position for a highly motivated Principal Scientist is available in the Cellular Biomeasures Team, Biomedicines Design Department. This role is integrated into a multi-disciplinary Biomarkers and Biomeasures group, responsible for the development and implementation of bioanalytical assays in support of translational modeling for drug discovery programs across therapeutic areas in Pfizer. This position requires expertise in cytometry approaches for the quantitative analysis of cell characteristics.

The successful candidate will apply their scientific skills, knowledge of complex biological systems and development of ex vivo cell-based assays and cellular biomarkers strategies to independently plan and conduct experimentations with a wide range of therapeutic modalities, such biotherapeutic proteins and mRNA/LNPs, implementing flow- and imaging flow- cytometry, light microscopy, as well as other current laboratory techniques. They are expected to work collaboratively and productively in a fast-paced environment, advancing multiple projects and contributing to team's deliverables.

In the role of Principal Scientist, the colleague will serve as a cellular bioanalysis expert, working closely with members of interdisciplinary project teams, including modelling and simulation group, project leads, biologists, and protein engineers, participating in decision-making conversations and impacting programs.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Determining the biomeasure strategy in order to translate project needs into an experimental path
  • Development, qualification, and implementation of flow- and imaging- cytometry assays for target biomeasures and pharmacodynamic responses using ex vivo cell systems or samples from pre-clinical studies
  • Participate or lead in technology development and implementation by exploring novel concepts and innovative workflows to expand the cytometry capabilities in the group
  • Participate in all phases of the cellular biomeasures team operations in the lab, including independent planning and execution of cytometry assays, data analysis, interpretation, reporting and follow up discussions with the project teams on utilizing the data in appropriate decision making
  • Function as a skilled mentor who closely collaborates/advises with other expert or junior group members on projects or technology advancement.
