Summary

The Chen laboratory in the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine, seeks a talented and self-driven Postdoctoral Associate to join our group on several NIH and foundation funded projects. With a combination of both experimental and computational approaches, our group provides an excellent environment for interdisciplinary research focusing on genetics and genomics in the visual system. In addition, our lab is leading the effort of generating the spatially resolved single cell atlas of the human eye as part of the human cell atlas (HCA) project supported by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI).

Members in our group have diverse backgrounds, such as genetics, medicine, engineering, computer, and statistics. Many cutting-edge technologies are utilized in our research, such as next-generation sequencing, single cell multi-omics, single cell spatial transcriptome, and deep learning, in combination with cell culture, retinal organoid, mice, and other animal models, offering excellent opportunities in cross-training to further expand your skills. The perspective postdocs who are interested in understanding the genetics and genomics of the human visual system, generating the cell atlas and neuron connectivity and function of the eye, understanding the molecular mechanisms and the treatment of the visual disorders are encouraged to apply. The Postdoctoral Associate will have the opportunity to work on one or more funded projects using suitable cutting-edge technologies, such as single-cell multi-omics and spatial transcriptomic technology, perturb-seq, high through functional assay with molecular biology or imaging techniques.
