SUMMARY
Provide technical & coordination support for various research projects under the direction of principle investigator / laboratory manager. Research projects focus on the characterization of ovarian tumor microenvironment from different angles, with the final goal of identifying new biomarkers associated with chemoresistance, survival and early detection. Research projects will involve handling of cell culture and mouse models, utilizing molecular and cellular biology techniques and cutting-edge technologies, such as spatial transcriptomics.
Laboratory Organization and Maintenance Initiates, facilitates, coordinates and provides support for variety of research projects in lab. Is actively involved in an ongoing process of acquiring new techniques, learning new reagents, modifying existing protocols and adapting them to our needs. Ensures that safety guidelines are strictly adhered to. Is responsible for obtaining, maintaining, monitoring, and insuring safety compliance for IRB, ARB, biohazard and safety compliance for laboratory.
Animal and Laboratory Studies Provides technical assistance in carrying out various research projects. Applicant will carry out experiments using (but not only) the following techniques (experience is not required, but open mind attitude and willing to learn is key): Primary human and mouse cell culture; Molecular biology techniques including flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, multiplex immunofluorescence, qRT-PCR, PCR, immunoblotting; Mouse models of ovarian cancer: blood and tissue collection, sample processing, animal handling and manipulation, live imaging; Cell-based assays including proliferation, migration, adhesion and apoptosis assay. Present results of experiments on a regular basis to principal investigator.
Record Keeping, Protocol and Database organization Maintains clear record of all experimental work performed in laboratory notebooks and complete all documentation with clear and accurate language. Applicant will compile and review data, write reports, and present in lab group meetings.
Communication and Team Work Clear written and oral communication skills are required. Applicant will collaborate with multidisciplinary team, including faculty, laboratory scientists, and clinical researchers and contribute to the study designs of ongoing projects. Assists in ordering, maintenance and preparation of laboratory reagents and buffers.
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree, major course work in one of the basic sciences.
Preferred Education:
Master's degree.
