Position Summary

We currently have a Postdoctoral Fellowship position within a research team headed by Dr. Jeff Perry, Assistant Professor, Department of Molecular Diagnostics and Experimental Therapeutics, and member of the City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer. We are looking for a post-doctoral candidate with experience in protein crystallography. A Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics or a related discipline is required. The Perry laboratory uses structural biology approaches, together with small molecule and fragment-based drug discovery, computer-aided drug discovery approaches and biochemical assays to target key proteins. This funded position is for a postdoctoral trainee interested in aiding the development of therapeutic against both type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Devise, plan, document and advance basic science-based projects in the area of structural biology and drug discovery.
  • Generate data for grant applications and prepare manuscripts for publication.
  • Work in close collaboration with other team members and external collaborators, including presentation of progress internally or externally.
  • Train and supervise technical staff.


Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • Recent PhD, A Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics or a related discipline is required.
  • Evidence of scientific rigor and excellence as documented by peer-reviewed publications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced research environment and manage multiple projects and collaborations.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills and fluency in English, both spoken and written.

Additional Information:
  • Pay Rate: $31.00 - $34.23 per hour.
  • The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate's experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.As a condition of employment, City of Hope requires staff to comply with all state and federal vaccination mandates.
