Job title: Open Rank Faculty Position-OUWBSOM Eye Research Center Location: Rochester, MI 48309 Job Category: Full-time Faculty Description: Posting Details Position Information Job Title Open Rank Faculty Position-OUWBSOM Eye Research Center Requisition No. 0000624 Job Description Summary The Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine Eye Research Center ( OUWB - ERC ) invites applications for an outstanding vision scientist with a history of sustained federal funding at Open Rank level (Assistant, Associate or full Professor), with salary, start-up package and rank commensurate with credentials, experience, and current funding status. The candidate will join a dynamic community of vision scientists at Oakland University whose work focuses on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms behind vision disorders and translating laboratory findings into treatments. We are particularly seeking applicants who have a nationally or internationally recognized research program, current extramural funding, and expertise in research that tackles diseases of the eye's anterior segment, glaucoma, immune system or ocular regeneration. In addition to leading a robust and federally-funded research program, the candidate should have demonstrated potential for outstanding academic contributions and an excellent record of mentoring graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. OUWB recognizes outstanding research, teaching, and service for promotion and tenure in the investigator track. Initial academic rank of the recruited individual will be determined based on qualifications including research productivity and scholarship, national/international recognition, and extramural grant support. General Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to: 1. Secure extramural support and maintain a robust research program in vision science. 2. Mentor graduate and medical students and postdoctoral fellows, perform innovative research, and continually publish and present their work at local, national, and international research conferences. 3. Work cooperatively and effectively with a diverse population of faculty (clinical and basic science), staff, and students in various settings, including the laboratory, classroom, and clinical sites, to foster collaborative research and enhance the learning experience. 4. Teach graduate and medical students in an appropriate area of expertise. 5. Participate in departmental governance and university service, and contribute to the highly collaborative and innovative environment within the scientific community at Oakland University and OUWB . Additionally, candidates must have: • A commitment to advancing a culture and climate of diversity and inclusion and serving a diverse population. • The ability or strong potential to provide effective teaching and mentoring to medical, graduate, and/or health science students. Minimum Qualifications A terminal degree (e.g., PhD, MD, DO, or equivalent) in an appropriate and applicable field, and a nationally-recognized and federally-funded research program in vision science.
