The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Supports the institution's endowed faculty awards, endowment compliance program, and other special projects within Research Administration.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Endowed Awards:

* Supports the Andrew Sabin Family Foundation Award, the Jack and Beverly Randall endowed awards, The Harter Prize, the Shirley Stein Scientific Endowed Research Award, the John Mendelsohn Award for Faculty Leadership, and other award programs as assigned and under the direction of Associate Director, ORA.

Reviews applications for completeness and compliance with program requirements and communicates with faculty applicants regarding award eligibility and expectations. Assists with preparing the request for application (RFA) materials for review. Prepares the Submit@MD Anderson (electronic awards platform) for award RFA release in conjunction with the Information Support teams as necessary. Conducts award set-up for funded Sabin Fellows' research in collaboration with Research Finance. Drafts contractually obligated formal correspondence to award donors for executive leadership. Prepares award correspondence to applicants and to executive leadership for review and any edits by Associate Director. Prepares and disseminates Return on Investment (ROI) questionnaires using Qualtrics and participates in the preparation of reports and analysis of the results. Sets up meetings and prepares agendas and other meeting materials. Tracks and reports application status, reviewer feedback, and progress report submission. Reviews no-cost extension requests and progress reports and makes recommendations to the Associate Director, ORA and award chair. Processes external reviewer honorarium payments. Prepares confidential spreadsheets and reports containing application information and reviewer feedback/scores on behalf of award chairs and executive leadership. Monitors the Research & Faculty Awards Mailbox and disseminates incoming correspondence to the appropriate staff. 40%

Endowments:

* Reviews endowment status reports received from Controller's Office for compliance with institutional endowment policy and guidelines. Prepares communication memos for stewards and department personnel. Monitors e-mail box for endowment-related questions and assists Associate Director (ORA) with responding to faculty and department staff. Assists with collection of endowment spending plans and conducts preliminary review for completeness and requirements. Provides reports as needed for Associate Director (ORA) and/or Endowment Compliance Committee (ECC). Attends Endowment Compliance Committee as needed/available. 30%

Other Program Support:

* Assists with other program support, including asset management and the Technology Taskforce, as assigned. 15%

Institutional Resource:

* Serves as an institutional resource by answering calls to the ORA help line and emails to the ORA email boxes. Refers questions and issues to responsible personnel when appropriate in a timely manner. Assists with updates to the awards submission electronic platform (Submit@MD Anderson), Qualtrics, and other platforms. May assist with updating the ORA intranet site. Assist in other areas as requested. 15%

EDUCATION:
Required: Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration or related field.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Two years of business experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.

Preferred:
  • Some form of research experience is important
  • Experience working with faculty or researchers is important
  • Skilled in Excel and/or with reviewing research data, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Familiar with Qualtrics is a plus.
  • Familiar with OBIEE or reviewing financial information at MD Anderson is a plus.
  • Experience with philanthropy or endowments, or experience with research compliance is a plus.
  • The ability to work on multiple projects at once and familiarity with developing and staying on track of timelines is critical.
