Director Division of Construction and Instrumentation/Office of Research Infrastructure Programs Office of the Director (OD) National Institutes of Health Department of Health and Human Services The NIH is the center of medical and behavioral research for the Nation--making essential medical discoveries that improve health and save lives. The National Institutes for Health is looking for exceptional candidates to lead and manage the scientific research programs in the NIH’s Office of Research Infrastructure Programs (ORIP) Division of Construction and Instruments (DCI). The DCI Director assesses the scientific status and future opportunities in shared instrumentation grants and NIH construction awards. The DCI Director plans, implements, and evaluates highly visible and highly impactful programs that support critical extramural biomedical research infrastructure needs across the Nation; plans, implements, and evaluates programs that allow extramural investigators to test new technologies; and establishes and maintains a close working relationship with the scientific community and the public. In this role, the successful candidate will lead the NIH effort to continue the development of extramural access to state-of-the-art technology and instrumentation and oversee the unique extramural construction program. Successful candidates should have extensive experience in all aspects of infrastructure support including shared instrumentation and construction and an understanding of the NIH peer review processes. Familiarity with the technical review aspects of construction is desirable, but not required. Outstanding communication, executive leadership, strong management, and relationship building skills are essential.
