Weill Cornell Medicine is seeking a qualified candidate for a 2-year NIH funded Postdoctoral Associate in Structural Biology in the laboratory of Dr. Paul Riegelhaupt in New York City.

You will join a project investigating the physiology and pharmacology of the K2P family of potassium leak channels. Examples of work being done in the lab can be found here: Wague A Et al. (2020) eLife 9:e59839, Schmidpeter, P.A.M. Et al. Nat Commun 14, 1077 (2023).

The position provides opportunities to develop scientific independence in a collaborative and supportive environment. The laboratory is located in the Department of Anesthesiology at the main Weill Cornell Medicine campus on the upper east side of Manhattan. Our group works closely with laboratories from the departments of Biophysics and Biochemistry at Weill Cornell and participates frequently in Tri-institutional sessions that include labs from both Memorial Sloan Kettering and Rockefeller University. The PI is committed to mentoring young scientists and nurturing creative thinking and scholarship. All applicants with relevant backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Qualifications

  • We welcome applications from enthusiastic and motivated individuals with a PhD (or about to obtain one) in Biochemistry, Structural Biology, or related fields with a strong interest in inter-disciplinary molecular biology research applied to human disease.
  • Strong background in protein purification, structural biology, or ion channel electrophysiology.
  • Self-motivated, work independently, and possess excellent communication skills

Salary and Appointment Details

  • Postdoctoral research associates are provided an annual stipend compliant with the current NIH scale for the first year of the role, and an inflation adjusted salary for year 2 when reappointed.
