The Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Medicine Massey Cancer Center and the Department of Pediatrics are recruiting a Pediatric Oncology Translational Research Faculty at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. This is a tenure track position with a joint appointment in the Department of Pediatrics and a basic science department (relevant to the candidate expertise). The appointment comes with a membership in the Massey Cancer Center and includes a very competitive recruitment package. This position will focus on basic and/or translational research related to Pediatric Solid Tumors (including brain tumors). The candidate should have a PhD, MD/PhD, or MD with a strong interest in pediatric malignancies. The Associate Professor level applicants should have outstanding publication records and extra-mural support. The Assistant Professor level position requires a strong publication record and post-doctoral experience with the potential for, or evidence of, the ability to secure funding. As promoted by VCU, the faculty member should also demonstrate experience in working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment and commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

The department of Pediatrics comprises a very active group of clinical investigators and is committed to providing an outstanding research environment. The Pediatric Oncology Division is a member of Children’s Oncology Group (COG) and USNWR ranked high. The Massey Cancer Center and the Department of Pediatrics are joining forces to develop a Pediatric Cancer Center of Excellence that is nationally and internationally recognized as a leader for clinical and translational research.
