As the hub of the new National Mouse Genetics Network, the specialist facilities and capabilities of the MLC support a package of distinctive research clusters spread across the UK to accelerate our understanding of human disease.

About the Role

The Pathology Manager will lead all aspects of the management of the clinical pathology platforms offered by the Mary Lyon Centre (MLC) at Harwell. This role is responsible for the running of the complex scientific assays which are offered as a service for scientific users of the MLC.

Key responsibilities

  • Operational service delivery including:
  • Day to day running of clinical chemistry and haematology analysers
  • Immunoassays
  • Flow cytometry

Equipment purchase and maintenance Data analysis Provision of training to researchers Line management of a small team of laboratory technicians Training will be given for many of these techniques; however experience of flow cytometry is essential and applicants are expected to be familiar with the other services.

About You

You will need to hold/have:

  • PhD or BSc with experience in the Biological or Biomedical Sciences
  • Previous experience in general laboratory
  • Previous experience in handling blood samples and analysis
  • The ability to accurately follow protocols/SOPs
