Summary

The Therapeutic Innovation Center is seeking talented cell and molecular biologists to work in an interdisciplinary team environment on early therapeutic and drug discovery projects. As the Center's key focus is on diseases in which RNA is dysregulated, with an emphasis in cancer, this position will involve characterizing the cellular and molecular consequences of target perturbation using a variety of assays including RNAseq, qPCR, Nanostring and cell growth/death assays. This position will also include the development of high-throughput in-cell assays to monitor target function. The Research Associate will be expected to work closely with the existing multidisciplinary teams and communicate progress and needs.

Job Duties

  • Develops and validates cellular assays to characterize the phenotypic and molecular consequences of target perturbation.
  • Evaluates, analyzes and presents data associated with experiments.
  • Clearly documents and communicates (oral and written) experimental results and progress to principal investigators.
  • Works effectively independently and as part of a collaborative team in a highly dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Annotates and maintains protocol repositories and laboratory reports.
  • May supervise, schedule and coordinate the activities of less experienced research staff.
  • Plans and executes next-generation sequencing library preparation protocols such as those for RNAseq and setup for Illumina technology-based sequencing runs.
  • Designs, plans and executes additional assays to monitor molecular consequences of target perturbation such as qPCR and Nanostring technology based experiments.
  • Works in collaboration with the computational biology team to evaluate and analyze internal data sets to test hypotheses.
  • Maintains a collaborative, collegial and respectful team environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Basic Science or a related field. Experience in lieu of degree will not be accepted.
  • Three years of relevant experience typically as a Research Assistant, Research Technician or Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise with next-generation sequencing library preparation protocols such as RNAseq
  • Expertise planning, combining and executing Illumina technology-based sequencing runs
  • Experience with setup and design of Nanostring technology based experiments
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and associated techniques
  • Experience with the following techniques: transfection/electroporation, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, DNA/RNA/protein extraction, western blot and qPCR
