Job Description:

We are seeking a creative and a self-motivated post-doctoral fellow to join Dr. Lena Al-Harthi's Lab at Rush University in the department of Microbial Pathogens and Immunity. The fellow will work on projects to study the role of glial cells in neuroinflammation. Initial appointment will be for one year, with a second-year appointment subject to satisfactory progress. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

  • The post-doc fellow will lead his/her own project, collaborate with others in the laboratory, and may even be responsible for technical training of students in the lab.

  • Opportunities for formal lectures in graduate school also exist and depend on career interest of candidate.

Required Job Qualifications:

  • PhD or PhD/MD.

  • Experience in neuroscience, or related field

  • Solid publication track record.

  • Effective writing skills.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Glial biology experience

  • Xenotransplantation is highly desired

  • Technical experience in advanced immunohistostaining

  • Confocal microscopy to assess neurological injury

  • Animal brain studies
