Postdoctoral Research Fellow Opportunity (Cancer Molecular Biology & Proteomics)

Employer
UTHealth San Antonio
Location
San Antonio, Texas
Salary
Commensurate with education and experience
Closing date
Apr 25, 2023

The Kim laboratory (officially starting in April) in the Department of Biochemistry and Structural Biology at UT Health Science Center at San Antonio is recruiting postdoctoral research fellows.

These positions will provide an excellent opportunity to learn a number of valuable, cutting-edge techniques in quantitative proteomics and systems biology as well as cell and molecular biology, while working with dynamic and interdisciplinary research teams at UT Health Science Center at San Antonio.

The project will focus on how the DNA damage response (DDR) signaling is regulated as DNA repair initiates, proceeds, and terminates. Temporal proteomic changes during the DDR will be investigated by global proteomics (abundance and PTM) and protein-protein interactome analysis using Mass Spectrometry-based proteomics and computational biology techniques. The postdoctoral fellows will also characterize newly identified DDR regulators for their roles in DNA repair and replication, signaling, and cell cycle progression.

Required qualifications:

  • PhD degree in cancer biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology, or proteomics
  • Experience in essential molecular biology and biochemistry techniques
  • Experience in cell/tissue culture and cell-based assays
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines; recognize and resolve problems while maintaining a high level of organization
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to interface with the team to review and analyze the results

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in sample preparation for mass spectrometry and data analysis by R
  • Experience generating new cell lines by CRISPR and other methods and characterizing them
  • Experience in protein purification
  • Experience in fluorescence microscopy and/or flow cytometry

San Antonio is the seventh-largest city in the U.S. with a historical downtown, a vibrant economy, affordable housing, and many recreational opportunities.

To apply for this position, please submit a CV, cover letter, and the contact information for 3 references to Dr. Minkyu Kim (c/o Caren Myers, myersc1@uthscsa.edu)
