A dynamic neuroscience research group at the University at Buffalo (UB) is seeking to fill a Postdoctoral Associate position focused on understanding how commonly misused substances mediate behavioral, molecular, and cellular plasticity. Our lab is engaged in many exciting cutting edge projects using a multifaceted approach from molecules to behavior. We apply advanced molecular and cellular approaches and sophisticated behaviors, most often in rodent models of drug seeking and relapse-like behaviors. Techniques used in the lab include animal behavior, confocal/fluorescent microscopy, viral mediated gene transfer, and advanced molecular techniques to help elucidate how drugs of abuse hijack the brain's reward pathway. We are looking for an individual with a deep enthusiasm for investigating the cellular and behavioral mechanisms of psychiatric disorders. All members of the laboratory are encouraged to develop scientific focus-based mutual interests and are given all necessary resources to develop independent projects and aims. Career development is a core principle of the laboratory, and all members have the full support of the P.I. and institute to help achieve their career goals. We provide excellent opportunities to advance your academic career including high impact publications  (for example; Martin et., 2019, Werner et al., 2020) and professional networking. This candidate will have demonstrated an individual that has a good understanding of rodent behavioral testing--although not necessarily in drug addiction models. This is a NIH funded position with expected salary to be at or above NIH scale.

We deeply encourage applications from individuals traditionally underrepresented in STEM. We will not tolerate discrimination due to an applicant’s race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin and veteran or disability status.

Interested applicants should send a letter of interest and a current C.V. to ddietz@buffalo.edu
