Dr. Parisa Kalantari's Laboratory is seeking a motivated postdoctoral fellow who will participate in immunological studies directed at understanding host immune responses and immunopathology associated with schistosomiasis and/or malaria (Cell Reports PMID: 29386115 and PMID: 24388751, Nat Rev Immunol PMID: 2532412, Front Immun PMID: 30761125). Candidates with experience in cellular and molecular Immunology would be preferred. Experience working with animal models of infectious diseases is highly desirable but is not required. Successful post doctoral fellow would be expected to perform cutting-edge research, publishable in high impact journals. The candidate will be responsible for writing publications, and training students and technical staff. Fellow would also be encouraged to apply for postdoctoral grants.

 

The candidate should have a PhD/MD in Immunology or a closely related field. Experience in techniques such as animal handling, drug administration, flow cytometry, quantitative PCR, cell culture, western blotting, DNA/RNA/protein techniques and work with BSL2 pathogens is highly desired. Familiarity with handling large data sets is preferred. This position will involve utilizing in vivo mouse models and performing research under biosafety level 2 condition. This position is located at the Penn State campus in University Park, PA, and is a limited term position for one year from the date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.

 

The successful candidate must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication (both oral and written) skills and be able to analyze, interpret and communicate data in a logical and timely manner.
