Position Summary

The Senior Research Specialist is an experienced oncology nurse who will work on a funded multicenter clinical trial involving older adults undergoing lung cancer surgery. Performs a variety of research activities. Minimum three years of clinical experience in hospitals/health care agencies and two years of research experience. If a registered nurse, we require a current California Registered Nurse license and CPR Certification. Master's degree required.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Identifies and accrues patients to Clinical Research Studies under the direction of its Principal Investigators.
  • Implements interventions for experimental studies.
  • Assists in the preparation of research reports, publications, and presentations.
  • Develops, establishes schedules, and monitors status of special projects on an ongoing basis.
  • Participates in data collection for projects as assigned.
  • Identifies and communicates important protocol and management issues or problem areas to supervisor.
  • Demonstrates understanding of all professional and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to provide sound decision-making.
  • Communicates effectively with all customers and colleagues to meet organizational goals.
  • Maintains current knowledge, skills, and competencies through involvement in professional continuing education activities.
  • Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.
  • Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, includingadherence to theworkplaceCode of Conduct and Compliance Plan. Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
  • Attends and participates in study meetings.


  • Basic education, experience, and skills required for consideration:

    Master's Degree required

    Three years of clinical experience in hospitals/healthcare agencies and two years of research experience are required

    Required Certification/Licensure:

    Current Licensed California Registered Nurse or Clinical Social Worker

    CPR Certification

    The estimated pay scale represents the typical [salary/hourly] range City of Hope reasonably expects to pay for this position, with offers determined based on several factors which may include, but not be limited to, the candidate's experience, expertise, skills, education, job scope, training, internal equity, geography/market, etc. This pay scale is subject to change from time to time.
