The Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Reproductive Endocrine Unit (Boston, Massachusetts) seeks applicants for a junior research faculty member who will also have a faculty position at the Instructor level at Harvard Medical School, effective March 1, 2023, or soon thereafter. The successful applicant will be responsible for leading a successful, clinical research team investigating the genetics and physiology of reproductive health and disease, on behalf of the Reproductive Endocrine Unit.

The Reproductive Endocrine Unit within the Endocrine Division at the MGH is composed of full time clinical and research faculty who are experts in clinical and investigative reproductive endocrinology. The Unit is exceptionally collaborative and attracts world-class predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees from our leading Endocrine Fellowship and academic institutions worldwide. The Unit is a National Center for Translational Research in Reproduction and Infertility funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Development (NIH). It is home to a sophisticated research infrastructure for conducting research on reproduction in humans and model systems.

We are seeking an Instructor who will augment the scientific progress and acumen of the REU, through activities including the writing of manuscripts, grant applications, clinical research protocols, and participation in high-level strategic planning, both scientific and otherwise. Applicants should have Ph.D. and/or M.D. degrees and a track record of excellent publications in high-level journals. The new Instructor will function in concert the Unit Chief to identify opportunities for new collaborations, funding, and scientific programs for the Unit. Candidates must have evidence of significant scientific achievement, possess exceptional managerial and collaborative skills, and demonstrate commitment to training and mentorship of research staff. S/he/they should expect to engage fully in the research environment of the Unit, participating in the administrative and educational activities including (but not limited to) scientific meetings, Visiting Professor research sessions, faculty meetings, and journal clubs.

The new Instructor will serve as a resource for faculty, staff and trainees involved in clinical research in the Unit. S/he/they will ensure compliance of all clinical research activities with all relevant institutional, national, and international guidelines and regulations.

The Instructor will be provided with office space, as well as access to state-of-the-art research resources both within MGH and across the Harvard community to enable significant contribution to the Unit’s scientific objectives and progress, as well as for the oversight of the Unit’s clinical research team. Formal access to research resources at the Broad Institute is also possible through association with one of the Institute’s Research Programs.
