Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute is proud to be Florida’s only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center located in Tampa. We are seeking an outstanding investigator in the Cancer Metabolism field who has exceptional vision and who will serve as a dedicated mentor and leader as Chair of the Department of Metabolism and Physiology. The expertise of the Applicant should be evident in top-tier publications, an established stature in the cancer biology field, extramural funding and a creative profile of innovative research programs that ideally would complement ongoing high-profile research currently conducted by department members to understand cancers as dynamic, evolving systems with complex tumor-host interactions, and to use this integrated understanding to identify novel therapeutic vulnerabilities.
The Department of Metabolism and Physiology focuses on the characterization of cancer-related processes in their native state using non-invasive techniques, including intravital microscopy, clinical grade imaging (PET/CT/MRI), in vivo stable isotope tracing, metabolic phenotyping, and ex vivo live microscopy and metabolomics. Research in the department investigates complex networks (metabolic, signaling) within living cells, complex cell-cell interactions within organoids or tumors, and complex interactions between tumor and stroma in experimental animals and human tumor tissue samples.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D., qualify for faculty appointment as Associate or Senior Member/Full Professor and possess demonstrated leadership and administrative skills. The generous recruitment package includes a highly competitive salary, a large laboratory start-up fund, an endowed chair, ample laboratory space, a stimulating and highly collegial environment and several junior faculty positions. The Moffitt Cancer Center is affiliated with the University of South Florida and university appointments are also available, as deemed appropriate.
